Tom Youl came from farming, took an unexpected left turn, then a right, then travelled the world and returned to the stunning, historical Quoin Farm near Killiecrankie. As a grazier, Tom’s an innovator and moderniser, and the recipient of a prestigious Nuffield Scholarship. His easy-going nature can deceive: stop him for a chat and you’ll find he’s exceptionally well-informed.

Sometimes the longest journey is the one that leads you home.

Before settling on Flinders Island, Tom spent years travelling the world, working across everything from landscaping and construction to running a snow bar in the Swiss Alps. Every experience taught him something new, but it was not until he arrived on Flinders Island that he realised he had found where he truly belonged. As Tom puts it, “I thought, well, I’ve found my niche.”

Today, Tom and his family call Quoin Farm home, continuing a property that has been part of Jo’s family for generations while shaping its next chapter together.
